Thank You for Attending the 2025 AGM

The Yukon Wild Horses Society would like to thank all members who joined us for our first Annual General Meeting on April 12, 2025. We were thrilled to see such strong engagement from our community. Quorum was met with over half of our membership in attendance.

Highlights from the Meeting:

  • Financials Approved: The 2024 financial statements were reviewed and unanimously approved. Members agreed that hiring an accountant was not necessary at this time due to our modest budget and strong internal financial management.

  • Board Reports:

    • Field Work: Over four months, the volunteer field crew tracked horse activity across a wide area.

    • Awareness & Fundraising:

      • 500 awareness flyers were distributed around Whitehorse.

      • We held successful candle and calendar fundraisers.

      • A grant was secured to publish a children’s book in fall 2025 featuring the story of two wild horses.

      • The Society received media coverage, including a CBC article, a radio interview, and a feature in North of Ordinary magazine.

      • Members are exploring branded merchandise like beer and wine labels.

      • Our Facebook page has grown to over 12,300 followers, and we launched a new Instagram account and website: yukonwildhorses.com.

  • Highway Safety: New reflective horse-crossing signs with images of the horses are scheduled to be installed this spring.

  • Board Election: A new director joined the board, bringing the total to five. Returning directors continue their terms.

  • Looking Ahead: Upcoming initiatives include a petition for special wildlife status, collaboration with local representatives, expanded outreach to landowners, and exploring merchandise sales at markets and local venues. We’re also looking to grow our social media team.

Thank you to all who brought your time, energy, and support to the meeting—and to the work ahead. We look forward to seeing you at our next AGM in 2026.
